The best Tonkatsu I had in Japan. Just superb...The place is a small and cozy restaurant upstairs, located in the first floor, can be easily missed.
Great meat, awesome dippings
Excellent. Best tonkatsu so far
Really crispy coating and juicy pork cutlets
It is very good but it leaves a bit of an oil after taste
Absolutely amazing
Every time we come to Kyoto, Buta Gorilla is in the top five of our favorite places to eat. Without a doubt, it is the very best katsu in the city, and the taste and quality is consistent and first rate. If you miss this place, you will never know what great katsu can be.
Great tonkatsu. Tender, juicy, melt in your mouth fried pork with all the fixings. No fuss, no line. Nice casual atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Heck yes. Amazing tonkatsu. It didn't feel super heavy for being a deep fried food. Highly recommend this place.
Tasted good to me 😁
Wonderful
Flavorful and delicious. Affordable price
Very delicious, friendly owner.
A delicious pork cutlery just a short walk from Teramachi Shopping Street. The staff's most popular lotus root cutlet is very delicious!I am glad that you can replace rice miso soup with cabbage. When you select the pork cutlet sauce, a mortar containing sesame is brought to you.The pork cutlet that mixes freshly ground sesame and sauce is really delicious! The fillet cutlet was soft and juicy.
Really good quality pork and perfect crumb. Everything was perfect
I never like vegetable tempura but in here they create the best pumpink tempura. In addition, the pork cutlet is super crunchy. The owner is also super nice.
Great spot. We loved Grinding up our own sauce however seating was very sparse.
Fried pork were too dry.
great!
Amazing beef bowl! It's one of those places where you get a ticket out front and bring it to the staff. There are English instructions as well.
Delicious tonkatsu in Kyoto. Melt in the mouth and crispy batter for the pork tenderloin I tried. Free refills on miso soup and rice also on offer if you can squeeze it in. Have been to other tonkatsu restaurants that are much more expensive in Kyoto and this place holds exactly the same high quality. Definitely recommend!
If you like a nice and authentic Shop for Tonkatsu in Kyoto, it's a place to try! Dishes are really good and Katsu was delicious. Also other ordered meal was nice and prices are in normal range. The Katsu sides are really nice and the sauces are what you need to try. Little bit hidden in the first floor and only less seats available. But take the chance to try it!
I often go to the main store, but this was my first time. It's on the second floor, but it's a small shop.Tonkatsu and other clothes here are really delicious. You can freely change cabbage, miso soup, and rice, and this taste will be popular in Osaka.
Nice pork katsu. Nice food. There’s min order: Each person has to order 1 dish.
Service? Not so good. Food? It's not awful. Definitely human food. Bottom line is you can get much better food and service elsewhere.
The food here is soo good. Best restaurant we ate at in our week trip to Japan! The katsu is soo light, crispy, and juicy.
Delicious tonkatsu with reasonable wait times. They offer a range of cuts and proportions, from 80g to a whopping 240g. There are also a range of sauces to choose from — my recommendation is to mix their classic tonkatsu sauce with crushed sesame seeds and mustard. Delicious!
Had a local friend recommend and it didn't disappoint! This spot is going to get even more popular.
Good fried pork chop, abit hard to find, wellWorth it
Great little restaurant selling super crunchy tonkatsu. Definitely recommend for a quick fried pork fix. Accommodating to English speakers too.
Yummy Tonkatsu. Very tender and juicy.
Very good 👍🏻
Came in quite late, shortly before last order. Although I was that late the service was perfect. The chef even took the time and explained to me that the soup and rice were included, although not written on the menu. ^__^ the food itself was very good and I'd absolutely go there again.
Delicious as usual. Small restaurant serving amazing Tonkatsu with free refill of sides. Super friendly staff too
Not much English spoken but some words are on the menu. Great food and very friendly. Would recommend!
Good food , local dishes
Pork cutlet is fried just enough... Not oily with the meat retaining its natural juices. Very nice!
